Event Description

Hitting Academy

The Winona State Softball coaching staff will be conducting its annual winter hitting academy this year. Players are welcome to come to just one Sunday session or come to both Sundays, whichever is convenient for the player. Sessions will be one hour in length. Those who attend the academy will get instruction in the movement patterns of elite swing mechanics, as well as ideas on how to become a smarter hitter. Each session will include a progression of hitting drills, from simple to more complex, to allow each hitter to see improvement each day and over the course of the both weeks. Players attending should bring their own bat and helmet if they have them. Total numbers of participants will be limited to ensure individual instruction.

Sunday, November 18th
Girls Ages: 12 - 18
Hitting Times:
1:00 PM, 2:00 PM & 3:00 PM
Cost: $40 per Session

Location: Softball Pit/Cage area of Memorial Hall on the WSU Campus

The Winona State softball program is coming off a championship season in 2018, winning both the NSIC Conference Championship and Tournament Championship and finishing the season ranked in the top 20 of the final NFCA poll. WSU Softball has had sixteen consecutive 30 plus win seasons, and eight 40-win campaigns, including a World Series trip in 2009. In that same time span, the Warrior softball program has won nine NSIC regular season or tournament championships, as well as spent numerous weeks in the top 25 National Rankings. Over the past thirteen seasons WSU Softball has had sixty-eight athletes named All-NSIC, thirty-two athletes have gone on to earn All-Region honors, and eleven times Winona State has had student/athletes honored as All-Americans.

Concussion Information:
I understand that if my child is diagnosed with a concussion or concussion like symptoms at a Winona State University Athletic Camp, they will no longer be allowed to participate at camp. As a parent/legal guardian I must make arrangements to remove the child from camp as soon as I have been notified of my child’s condition.
