Shanley Weightlifting Meet 2019
|
Lifters will compete in three lifts: the bench press, the squat, and the power clean. This year we are going to use an online payment and registration to speed up the entering process. The cost for online registration is $25. Lifters can register the day of the meet but the price will increase to $35. Weigh-in for the event is from 8:00 A.M. and 8:30 A.M. in the high school gym. There will be a short meeting at 9:00, and lifting will begin after that. The meet should conclude around 12:00-1:00 p.m. Anyone who does not complete the online registration form, or present a signed waiver form the day of the meet will not be allowed to compete.
Lifters can win two ways in each weight class. Awards will go to the athletes who have the highest pound-per-pound strength in each weight class (top 3 will get awards) and one plaques to the highest weight lifted in each class (total pounds). It is possible for an athlete to win two or more awards! Athletes will also compete against others in their grade, as we will give out an award for top weight lifted and top pound for pound in each class (7th grade, 8th grade, etc…), boys only. We will give out a grand champion trophy to the boy who lifts the most weight at the meet and another one for the most pound for pound. If we have more than one division of girls we will do this as well. Nine weight classes for boys will be created the day of the meet to create competition. The lifter does not gain a competitive advantage in losing weight prior to the weightlifting meet since weight classes are not set yet.
Interested lifters should contact their team coach or school strength coach. Individuals, small groups, and large competitive teams may attend from North Dakota, South Dakota & Minnesota schools. Lifters and coaches are encouraged to e-mail questions to Coach Anthony Carlquist: Anthony.Carlquist@jp2schools.org
Spectators are welcome to come and cheer on the kids during the lifting, but we do want them to utilize our stands and not be on the floor during the lifting, a coach (1-2) may be down with the kids during the lifting. Admission will be charged to fans and cost will be $5 for adults and $3 for students K-12.
