Introduction to Media Communication

Location: Marymount University, Main Campus 2807 N. Glebe Rd. Arlington VA

2-week intensive course earning three credits.  Class runs 9 am – 5 pm.  Evening assignments, field trips, and group activities included.

You will earn three college credits, which will transfer when ready.  Our summer program is designed to engage students with multiple facets of communication studies. Students will engage in media literacy, blogging, curating their social media presence, public speaking, and debate. Based on the brevity of the program, students will learn a breadth of communication techniques that will introduce them to the multiple areas of communication studies and encourage them to continue exploring the depth of the topics after the program has been completed. The two-week program will focus on an introduction to media in the first week and the fundamentals of public speaking in the second.

Time: 9:00am - 5:00pm
Cost of Course: $2,649 for credits, room, and meals or $2,066.50 for commuters under 20 miles from campus.
($2,500 + $149 fee or $1,950 + $116.50 fee)
(Must attend all course days to qualify for credits)
Limit: 20 participants


Refund Policy: Due to the nature of the Summer Institute course program, refunds will ONLY be considered in cases of extreme need:  family emergency or unforeseen illness when we receive a written notice stating that the student is physically unable to participate. The Vice President of Affairs will review refund requests. All approved refunds will incur a 15% administration fee which will be deducted from your refund amount.
