Register today for the Volleyball Coaches Clinic happening at Montgomery Academy on March 2nd. Enjoy 3 hours of learning as experienced coaches demonstrate different skill and technique training methods they have used over the years to achieve success that you can take back to your own program. About Our Clinicians

Penny Lucas White

  • Head Volleyball Coach at Alabama State Univeristy
  • 5 time Coach of the Year and SWAC Champions
  • Former USA National Team Player, competed professionally for 9 years in various countries
  • An active member of the AVCA
  • Currently serves as a cadre for USAV Coaching Accreditation Program
  • Founder and Director of Play Like Winners Volleyball Club in Montgomery, AL
  • 26 years of NCAA coaching experience


Rose Magers Powell

  • Head Volleyball Coach at Alabama A&M University
  • Former Olympian (Silver Medalist in ’84) and USA National Team Player
  • Earned the All-Time Greatest Player Award from USA Volleyball in 2007
  • Founder and Director of Rocket City Volleyball Club in Huntsville, AL
  • 34 years of playing, coaching, and teaching experience


Ruth Nelson

  • Founder of BYOP and GoKidsYouth Sports training programs
  • Former player, assistant coach, and technical advisor for the USA National Team
  • Has trained several All-Americans and Olympians during her time at the youth, club, college, and professional levels
  • Inducted into AVCA Hall of Fame in 2014
  • Over 40 years experience as an innovator, teacher, motivator, fundraiser, sports marketer, and visionary; has been devoted the past 18 years to specializing in training 5-10 year olds


Danielle Scott-Arruda

  • Five-time Olympian and former USA National Team Player
  • Competed professionally for 18 years in various countries
  • Player of the Year, three-time AVCA All-American, and National Champion at Long Beach State University
  • Inducted into the International Volleyball Hall of Fame in 2016
  • Has served as a clinician and trainer, including with USA Volleyball, since retiring as a player
