Objective of Camp
To provide the Abilene community and Statewind with a quality tennis camp at affordable price and to promote the skills and mental aspects that it take to win at the game of tennis, in a Christian setting.
The McMurry Tennis Camp brings in tennis players from all over the state to provide a week of tennis that is both competitive and fun. Throughout the week we will have drills, match play, conditioning, and fun evening activities. We will work on skills and strategies for singles, doubles, and mixed doubles as well as tournament play. Private instruction is available as needed. Evening activities will include swimming, basketball, ping-pong, billiards, movies, and team Olympics.

Thursday June 20th 11 AM – 12 PM; Following an awards ceremony at McMurry Tennis Courts

Daily schedule will include at least 6 hours of tennis daily, with drills, match play, and video analysis. Private instruction will be given as needed. Strategy sessions will also be given on singles and doubles play. Singles doubles and mixed doubles will be played in tournament format. Conditioning will be brought in for all players and we will be adding weight training in tennis for added strength.
Indoor swimming, basketball, billards, ping-pong, movies and an Olympic team event. Also Primetime.
McMurry Head Men’s and Women’s Tennis Coach Bryan Rainwater - Coach Rainwater has worked the McMurry Summer Camps since 2007 and Co-Directed them for the last 4 years. A former player at McMurry University (’07-’11), Rainwater was also the Assistant Men’s and Women’s Coach (’11-’18) before taking over as head coach in August 2018.
McMurry Assistant Tennis Coach Chris Breaux – Coach Breaux took over as the assistant coach in 2018 after coaching at Clack Middle School for 3 years. Breaux has helped with the McMurry Camps for 6 years and has been a counselor at Baylor University Tennis Camp for 3 years. As a player for the War Hawks (’10’14) Breaux won the Division II ITA Regional in doubles and finished sixth in the nation in 2013.
Cooper High School Tennis Coach Trance Rosenquist – Coach Rosenquist is the most seasoned veteran with the McMurry Tennis Camp. He has Co-Directed the camps for over a decade and is a former player and assistant coach at McMurry. Rosenquist has also helped direct the Schreiner Tennis Camp for the past 7 years.
Dallas Baptist Head Men’s and Women’s Tennis Coach Wade Morgan – Coach Morgan will be joining the McMurry Tennis Camp Coaching Staff for the first time in 2019. Morgan played his college tennis at Hardin-Simmons University and in 2011 took over as the Men’s and Women’s tennis coach at Schreiner University in Kerville, TX. Coach Morgan was also named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Coach of the Year in 2014 and was founder and director of the highly successful Schreiner Tennis Camp for 7 years before moving to Dallas.
