Blueboys Basketball Camps
Day Camp
The 23rd annual Illinois College Boys Basketball camp is open to boys who will begin grades 2-9 in the fall of 2019. The junior camp is for boys entering grades 2-3 in the fall of 2019. The camp director is Steve Schweer who was recently named the 18th Head Coach in Illinois College Men's Basketball program history. He comes to Illinois College following successful coaching stints at North Central College, Monmouth College, North Park University, and Lakeland College. The camp will be held in the Bruner Fitness and Recreation Center on the campus of Illinois College, one of the finest small college athletic facilities in the nation.
The camp will focus on fundamentals and individual skills including shooting, ball handling, passing, defense, and post moves. Advanced techniques of team offense and defense including both 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 game play will also be significant portions of the camp. An emphasis on teamwork and sportsmanship will be present throughout the day camp. Daily schedules will vary, but learning sessions on fundamentals, drill work, game play, and contests such as knock out and hot shot will be incorporated into each morning and afternoon session daily.
Campers will receive instruction from some of the area's finest coaches along with members of the current Illinois College Blueboys roster. Each camper will receive a camp t shirt and personalized individual evaluations compiled by members of the camp staff. Awards voted on by the coaches will also be given to campers at the awards ceremony at the conclusion of the final day of camp. Campers will be served lunch daily. Over 3,300 campers have attended camp over the past 22 years!
