Event Description

2019 PITCHING / CATCHING CAMP

Missouri State University pitching coach Paul Evans and current and former professional players will be the instructors for the Bears’ 2019 Fall Pitching/Catching Camps. Each session will be held at Hammons Field (corner of Hammons Pkwy. & Trafficway) on October 5-6.
Register below and mail the form to the address listed on the form. Enrollment is limited, so
please enroll early. Enter through the gate next to the Bill Rowe Indoor Training Facility at east end of stadium complex.

Grades: 7th - 12th
Saturday: 10:00am - 2:00pm
Sunday: 10:00am - 2:00pm
Cost: $175 per Camper
**A $10 processing fee is added to online registrations.**

 Enrollment is limited, so please enroll early.

Location: The camp will be held at Hammons Field (corner of Hammons Pkwy. & Trafficway). Enter stadium through front (main) gate.

What to Bring: Each camper will be responsible to provide his own catching equipment, glove and hat.

Camp Staff:

  • Paul Evans: enters his 30th year as MSU’s pitching coach. Under Evans the Bears have had two of the best three team ERA’s in the history of the program. 62 MSU pitchers have signed professionally, 12 reaching the big leagues, and 3 Bears have pitched for Team USA in his 29 years with the Bears. In 2001, 2006, 2007, 2012, and 2015 the Bears had pitchers taken in the 1st Round of the Major League Baseball Draft. At Southern Illinois University, Evans posted an 18-7 record. His 0.84 ERA in 1979 ranked 3rd in NCAA Division 1 and he threw the last no-hitter in school history. Evans has pitched and coached in the prestigious Cape Cod Baseball League.
  • Howard Quigley:  a Missouri High School Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame Member, has coached at the high school level for 31 years winning over 450 games. The Missouri High School Coach of the Year in 1990 has a state championship, 2nd, and 3rd place finishes to his credit. Quigley was a three-year letterman as a catcher at Missouri State. He played on two conference championship teams and served as co-captain during his senior year. Quigley is one of four sons, all of whom played college baseball. He is related to professional baseball coaches Gene Roof of the Tigers, Phil Roof of the Twins, and Eddie Haas, a former Atlanta Braves manager.
