Sunday, January 5th
Who: 14U, 16U, 18U Teams
Grades: 8 - 12
Cost: $600 per Team
$100 per individual
$60 if you register for one showcase session
Showcase Attendees receive a $40 discount on the New Year Throwown. To receive the discount use the Coupon Code provided in your Showcase confirmation email while registering for the New Year Throwdown.

Camp is open to any and all high school or 14U/16U/18U travel teams or individuals, provided all participants are in grades 8-12 (Class of 2024-2020). Teams will play three 1 hour, 15-minute games, drop dead regulations (3 x1:15), with instruction before, during, and after the games.  Registration will be online via Ryzer Events.  If online registration is not an option, please email ejohns54@kent.edu for alternate options.

Location: Kent State University Fieldhouse* – 2227 Summit St., Kent, OH 44242
*if weather permits, games may be played outdoors at the Diamond at Dix

What to bring:
Items needed for softball – uniform (pants are recommended), indoor shoes, cleats (if games are moved outside), glove, bats, helmets, catchers gear, etc.
Lunch/Snacks – lunch will not be provided, but there will be concessions on site and food items may be brought in or delivered to the fieldhouse


  1. The KSU Field House allows two games to be played at the same time with three outfielders. 
  2. Games will last 1 hour, 15 minutes, with a fifteen - minute transition time between games.
  3. Instruction from KSU coaches & players before, during, and after games.
  4. Unlimited substitutions with the option of hitting 10 batters.
  5. OHSAA Umpires

→ Kent State Coaches as well as current & former KSU players will serve instructors, and evaluators.

8am – Warm-up (continued hitting instruction)

Insurance & Medical Information: Kent State University has purchased insurance for each participant that will cover injury over and above the primary insurance coverage. A first aid provider will be on duty.  Minor injuries will be treated at University Hospitals. Each participant must have a KSU medical care form signed by a parent/legal guardian in order to participate. One will be e-mailed to you. You may also get the forms off the KSU web page.

Refunds: Individuals - Your camp fee, less a $25.00 non-refundable administrative fee, will be refunded without questions if you cancel before December 24th, 2018 at 11:59 PM. At any time after that date, a refund less a $35.00 administrative fee will be made for medical reasons and extenuating circumstances. If it is a medical reason it must be accompanied by a signed medical statement from your physicians. If no request is made before camp begins, NO refund will be given, including no-shows.
Teams - $200 non-refundable.
