Weather Spotter Training
The National Weather Service in Riverton relies upon a trained group of volunteers to relay weather information from their location. These “Storm Spotters” play an important role in the weather warning process by providing ground truth reports. This class will teach the basics of thunderstorm development, thunderstorm structure, what features to look for, and where to find them. Attendees will understand the what, when, and how of reporting safely and accurately to the NWS. Video and images make for an interactive learning experience. The class is approximately 90-120 minutes long and is free and open to the public. No prior experience is required, so come and learn about the ins-and-outs of Wyoming thunderstorms!
