2020 Bard College Soccer Camp

About the Camps
The Bard College Soccer Camp offers two weeks of soccer instruction for boys and girls. Children of all skill and experience levels are invited to join us for an enjoyable week of soccer instruction and fun! Instruction will focus on the development of individual ball skills, how and when to use these new skills in game situations and the importance of team play.

Daily Activities
Half Day Camp:
This program is designed for boys and girls ages 5-8 and will focus on an introduction to basic ball control skills, rules, positioning and general concepts of play. Games and contests will provide the opportunity to use newly learned skills in a variety of situations.Emphasis for the week is learning the basics, participation by everyone and HAVING FUN!  Campers will receive a t-shirt, ball, snacks and refreshments.  There will also be an optional half hour of swim time mid-morning.

Full Day Camp: This program is designed for boys and girls ages 8-15 and focuses on developing the individual skills needed by every player and using those skills in exercises and games. Small group and full sided games games will be played and a variety of tactical topics will be discussed and demonstrated.  Campers will receive a t-shirt, ball and lunch in Kline Commons Dining Hall.  There will also be an optional half hour of swim time offered before lunch.

Camp Directors
Bill Kelly has been the Women's Soccer Coach at Bard for thirteen seasons.  Since his inaugural season at Bard in 2007, his teams have finished second twice and third twice in the Skyline Conference and made four postseason appearances in the ECAC Tournament.  In 2009 Kelly was named Skyline Conference Coach of the Year, and in 2015, Bard won the Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year Award.  Prior to arriving at Bard, Kelly coached a nationally ranked D3 women's soccer program at the College of St. Benedict in Minnesota where he led his teams to the NCAA playoffs three times, including a finish in the "Sweet Sixteen".  This will be his fourth season at Bard Summer Camp.

Jason Pavlich is in his 18th year with the Raptors Soccer Camp. A ’99 graduate of Bard College, Jason was a four year starter for the Bard’s Men’s Soccer Team, captaining the team his junior and senior years, He took over the Bard Women’s Program in 2001 after spending the previous two years as the men’s assistant coach and was instrumental in elevating the team to where it is today. Jason lives in Red Hook and teaches at Red Hook High School where he has been the Head Coach of the Girl’s Varsity Soccer Team for the past 18 seasons. In this time he has captured 8 league championships.  Jason holds a national level diploma from the NSCAA and has been honored multiple times by both the MHAL and the Poughkeepsie Journal as Girl’s Soccer Coach of the Year.
