YSU Soccer Camps
Summer ID Camp
The Penguins Soccer College ID camp is designed to provide players with a NCAA Division One training experience. Field players and goalkeepers will be trained by the Youngstown State University Soccer staff and be exposed to a training atmosphere that is distinctly unique to the YSU Penguins Soccer program. Our Identification Camp will emphasize the technical, psychological, fitness and tactical understanding necessary to prepare you to play at a higher level of soccer and for the challenges of collegiate soccer.
Penguins Soccer Camps are open to any and all entrants, limited only by space, age and grade level. It is the policy of the Penguins Soccer Camps and Nitro Fitness LLC not to discriminate on the basis of sex, handicap, race, color, religion, marital status, veteran’s status, national or ethnic original or sexual orientation.
Due to recent rules changes limiting recruiting by college coaches in reaction to the COVID-19 Pandemic, we have postponed our ID Clinic for a later date to be determined. As soon as details become available we will be sure to share them with you directly! Thank you so much for your patience and understanding. Be safe and stay healthy!!

Our field player program imitates training and expectations players will need if considering a college soccer career. Field players are trained in the proper techniques for shooting, heading, dribbling, passing and defending. They are then put into highly competitive 1v1, 4v4, and 11v11 games to develop these techniques under pressure.
TACTICAL TOPICS FOR FIELD PLAYERS
- 1v1 attacking & defending
- Creating numbers up situations
- Speed of play
- Combination play
- Becoming a better goal scorer
GOALKEEPER PROGRAM
Don’t worry ‘keepers, we haven’t forgotten about you! Our objective is to create a training environment that challenges all levels of goalkeeping. There will be both a technical and tactical emphasis to the program that will cover shot stopping, footwork, hand positioning, fitness, diving, handling crosses and corner kicks and more. Technical training will be accompanied by game-related, competitive goalkeeping activities and games. Training time periods will be allotted for goalkeeper specific training, and then goalkeepers will join the field players for finishing exercises, small-sided games and full-sided games in order to apply concepts to live game situations.
TACTICAL TOPICS FOR GOALKEEPERS
- Reading the game
- Organizing the defense
- Dead ball situations
- Communication
- Staying connected to the team
We’re limiting the camp to only 60 campers so be sure to reserve your space as soon as you can!
