Dance Virtual Auditions Registration

AUDITION TIMELINE

• ROUND ONE: Registration and Fight Song/Skill Videos submitted by 12:00 pm CT, Wednesday, May 27
• ROUND TWO: Zoom Interviews and links to Jazz & Hip-Hop choreography sent out, Saturday, May 30
• ROUND THREE: Jazz & Hip-Hop videos submitted by 5:00 pm CT, Sunday, May 31
• PROVISIONAL TEAM ANNOUNCED: Tuesday, June 2

Cut may be made between Round One and Round Two of the audition process based upon video submissions requirements or execution of video materials.

*NEW* REGISTRATION

• Before submitting videos, please make sure you register at the new online registration link. If you have previously registered, you will need to re-register as waivers and forms have been transitioned to an online format, and payment can now be accepted online.

VIDEO SUBMISSION

• Subject: ex. "Jane Doe - Dance Audition Video"
• Body: ex. "Hello, My name is Jane Doe, and this is my video submission for the 2020-2021 MSU Dance Team."

You will receive an email response upon receipt of YouTube link. Videos and Registration must be received by Noon (12:00 pm) May 27.

ROUND ONE | PERSONAL INTRO, FIGHT SONG, TECHNICAL SKILLS

• Appearance
  • Any cropped dance top
  • Black spandex shorts
  • Hair must be completely down and styled for Gameday
  • 'Gameday ready' makeup

ORDER OF VIDEO

• Personal Introduction
  • First and Last Name
  • High School (if new) and Hometown (everyone)
  • Fall 2020 Class (freshman, sophomore, etc.)
  • Why do you want to be on the MSU Dance Team?
• MSU Fight Song - VIDEO
• Demonstration of technical skills
• NOTE: Skills listed with (*) are strongly recommended, but not required
  • Pirouettes (as many as possible on L and R)
  • Turns in second
  • Grande jete (L and R)
  • Leap in second
  • Calypso
  • Turning disc
  • Headspring*
  • Kip up*
  • 3 additional skills as desired

Due to current health regulations, the use of a studio or appropriate surface may not be currently possible for certain skills. If this is an issue, you may submit old video clips. Dancer and skill must be clearly indicated if videos are from a group routine.
 

ROUND 3 | JAZZ & HIP-HOP COMBOS

Individuals who qualify will be sent the Jazz and Hip-Hop combos upon making first round cuts.

  • Hip-Hop pants are optional for Hip-Hop combo
  • Jazz shoes are required for Jazz combo
  • Hair must be completely down and styled for Gameday
  • 'Gameday ready' makeup
