2020 COLLEGE SOCCER ID CAMP

Due to Covid 19 restrictions at Muhlenberg, we have decided to move camp to the Lehigh County Sports fields located within 5 minutes of campus.  New camp details are located below.

Designated COVID-19 Point of Contact
Nancy Thomas (certified athletic trainer) - Is the designated staff person responsible for responding to COVID-19 concerns.  Considering hiring a nurse for the duration of the camp to be this point of contact.

• Week leading up to camp we will call campers to ask pre camp wellness questions as stated below.  We will again ask them these questions each morning when the camper is dropped off.  
• If a camper is feeling sick, they will go under a tent out at the fields until their parents can pick him up. 
• Camper and counselor will wear masks and sit 6 feet apart while waiting for the camper’s parents to arrive.

Drop Off | Upon arrival:

1. Parents must sign a waiver prior to the start of camp that they are responsible for reporting Coronavirus within 14 days of the last day of camp.  
2. Facemasks to be worn when checking in campers.
3. We will ask campers/parents the following questions before the camper gets out of the car.
   • Questions - any reported fever, a new cough or shortness of breath, loss of smell, diarrhea or rash on fingers/toes in the last 14 days?
   • Have you tested positive for Coronavirus?
   • Have you been around anyone who has tested positive for coronavirus in the last 14 days?
4. At the same time we will test using an infrared thermometer.  If the camper has a temperature of higher than 100.4 degrees, the camper will not be permitted to stay for camp.  T
5. A designated drop off location will be determined prior to the start of camp.  Health questions and temperatures can be done while the camper is still in the car.  Parents will not be permitted around the fields to watch.  They must stay in their cars if remaining on site.
6. Pick up - Campers will depart fields straight to parents cars.  Parents will be instructed to wait in cars.

Masks:

• All staff will wear masks anytime we are interacting with parents/guardians or campers.  All campers will be required to wear masks at all times other than when they are on the field.

Cohorting:  Teams/Training groups

• Campers will be assigned to a specific team and coach for the entirety of camp.  

Hand Hygiene and Respiratory Etiquette:

We will teach and reinforce handwashing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds and increase monitoring to ensure adherence among campers and staff.  

• If soap and water are not readily available, hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol can be used (for staff and older children who can safely use hand sanitizer).  We will make sanitizer available and recommend bringing a small bottle of their own.  

We encourage staff and campers to cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue. Used tissues should be thrown in the trash and hands washed immediately with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.

• If soap and water are not readily available, hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol will be used (for staff and older campers who can safely use hand sanitizer).

Restrooms

• Portable restrooms at the fields.  We will have hand sanitizer available for after restroom use.  

Those Who are Sick

• Staff or campers should not come to camp and you should notify the camp designated COVID-19 point of contact if they (staff) or their child (families) become sick with COVID-19 symptoms, test positive for COVID-19, or have been exposed to someone with symptoms or a confirmed or suspected case.
• STSS will Immediately separate staff and or campers with COVID-19 symptoms (such as fever, cough, or shortness of breath, loss of smell, diarrhea or rash on fingers/toes ) at camp. Individuals who are sick should go home and or to a healthcare facility depending on how severe their symptoms are, and follow CDC guidance for caring for yourself or others who are sick.  

Advise Sick Individuals of Home Isolation Criteria

• Sick staff members or campers should not return to camp until they have met CDC’s criteria to discontinue home isolation.

Staff Training

• STSS will conduct training on camp protocols virtually or ensure that social distancing is maintained during training.  Staff will also receive written camp protocols prior to camp starting.

Equipment:

• All campers are required to bring their own ball & water bottle for camp.  Water bottles will be refilled by the trainer.

Lodging & Meals

• Campers will be responsible for their own lodging and meals.
