2022 NEW YEAR THROWDOWN |

Camp is open to any and all high school or 14U/16U/18U travel teams or individuals, provided all participants are in grades 8-12 (Class of 2026-2022). Teams will play four 1 hour, 20-minute games (3 x1:20), with instruction before, during, and after the games. Registration will be online via Ryzer. If online registration is not an option, please email ejohns54@kent.edu for alternate options.
Location: Kent State University Fieldhouse* – 2227 Summit St., Kent, OH 44242
*If weather permits, games may be played outdoors at the Diamond at Dix
What to bring:
→ Items needed for softball – uniform (pants are recommended), indoor shoes, cleats (if games are moved outside), glove, bats, helmets, catchers gear, etc.
→ Lunch/Snacks – lunch will not be provided, but there will be concessions on site and food items may be brought in or delivered to the fieldhouse
Structure:
- The KSU Field House allows two games to be played at the same time with three outfielders.
- Games will last 1 hour, 20 minutes, with a ten-minute transition time between games.
- Four rounds of games, with instruction from KSU coaches & players before, during, and after games.
- Unlimited substitutions with the option of hitting 10 batters.
- Kent State Softball Players/Alumni will serve as umpires
Instructors:
→ Kent State Coaches as well as current & former KSU players will serve as umpires, instructors, and evaluators.

7:00am – Registration/Check-In
7:30am – Pre-game Mental Training & Hitting Instruction
8:00am – Warm-up (continued hitting instruction)

6:00pm – Final Q&A, and wrap-up with KSU Coaches & Players
Insurance: Kent State University has purchased insurance for each participant that will cover injury over and above the primary insurance coverage. A first aid provider will be on duty. Minor injuries will be treated at Robinson Memorial Hospital. Each participant must have a KSU medical care form signed by a parent/ legal guardian in order to participate. One will be e-mailed to you. You may also get the forms off the KSU web page.
