Health and Safety

Our greatest priority is the health and safety of our camp participants and staff. In the coming months, we will closely monitor the ongoing global pandemic and set camp policies following the guidance of Duke University medical experts and current local and national health officials at the time of the event.

COVID-19:

The Jon Scheyer Duke Basketball Camp is committed to providing a safe environment for all participants, their families, and staff. It is expected that all participants and visitors adhere to current university, local, and state guidelines. More information on policies and procedures regarding COVID- 19 will become available closer to the start of camp. The policies and procedures will be finalized in consultation with medical experts at Duke as well as local and state officials.

Covid Update as of 4/6/22:

  • Participants in day camps are strongly encouraged to be vaccinated before arriving. Anyone with COVID-19 symptoms should not report to camp until after receiving a negative test.
  • Student Health will do symptomatic testing of camp participants for programs that have a contract for the service; otherwise, camp participants should be tested at an outside facility (e.g. urgent care, pharmacy).
  • Any day camp participant who tests positive while on campus will be removed from participation and must have a parent or designated adult caregiver pick up the individual.

Meals

Campers are served lunch daily in Scharf Hall. There are a wide variety of healthy food options offered at each meal. This facility is peanut free (with the exception of individually packaged peanut butter).

Scharf Hall is staffed by the same catering company that services the Duke Student Athletics throughout the school year, so they are accustomed to accommodate various dietary restrictions and food allergies.

Should your camper have any dietary restrictions and/or food allergies, please use the online registration form to describe both the restriction/allergy, as well as the procedures our camp staff should follow if a reaction occurs. We also ask that those campers and their families visit with our camp medical training staff at check-in so that they can discuss, in detail, the condition and any specific concerns. If the camper has an epi-pen for emergency use, we ask that you bring one for us to have in the camp training room in Cameron Indoor Stadium, and that the camper bring along a string backpack clearly labeled with his name to carry the epi-pen with him from place-to-place on campus.

Please contact Mikaela Ryan @ mikaela.ryan@duke.edu if you have additional questions or concerns regarding the cafeteria.

Jon Scheyer Duke Men’s Basketball camp is open to any and all registrants (limited only by number, age/grade and gender).
