Event Description

UTSA - Legacy CAR Summer Camp

Archaeology 101

During this week-long summer camp, children ages 9 to 13 years old will participate in outdoor and indoor activities while exploring archaeological discoveries, methods, ethics, and more.

There are two different themes for the summer camps.

  • Archaeology 101 (session 1 & 3) will introduce campers to archaeology and build on learned skills through experimental activities (like cave painting, weaving, garbology).
  • Archaeology 201 (session 2 & 4) will briefly go over the foundations of archaeology and related skills, followed by a different topic over the course of this week (like skeletal analysis, global cultures, and more).

The camp will be held at the Center for Archaeological Research located on UTSA’s 1604 Campus, and the camp is staffed by the Center’s archaeologists, interns, and volunteers.
