Flag Football General Info

Gilbert Flag Football is a recreational program for those in 1st - 6th grades. There is no selection process to play in the program, however, the play is competitive and players are expected to work hard and be respectful.

We play in the Central Iowa Recreation League which is coordinated by Nevada Parks and Recreation. The league includes Ames, Colo-Nesco, Gilbert, Iowa Falls, Nevada, Roland-Story and South Hamilton. (see http://www.centraliowarecleague.org/ for more details)

There are four levels of play in our program: 1st/2nd grade flag, 3rd grade flag, 4th grade padded flag, and 5th/6th grade flag. The grade level is the child’s grade in the fall of the school year. Registrations close August 5th and will not be accepted after the deadline. Coaches and teams will then be assigned and the game schedule will be prepared and distributed to coaches and parents as well as posted on the Central Iowa Recreation League website. You can also find league rules and directions on this site. Practices are typically Tuesday and Thursday evenings until games begin.  Games are mainly on Thursdays with Tuesdays as a rain date.

Games will begin in early September and run through mid-October 5-6 game schedule TBD).

Head Coaches: will have 100% of their child's registration refunded before the start of the season.
