2025 Claude Shields Basketball Camp

Our first ever summer of two sessions was a tremendous success! We are excited to run it back again in 2025!! We would love to have your son or daughter for either one, or both!! 

Claude Shields Basketball Camp at William Peace University is open to boys and girls, ages 6-13. They will have the opportunity to be a part of our program for a week. We are committed to helping each camper have fun, get better, and work hard. The two core values we focus on during the week are Fail Forward Fast and Compete with Joy.  We want to teach them how to respond to failure and be grateful for the opportunity to compete while separating ourselves (as much as we can!) from results. 

We value each individual - which directly translates to a better experience for your child. Each camper will get a nickname for the week from one of the coaches - we have found over the years that this really helps each individual feel connected and valued. Spots are limited to the first 85 - so make sure you register early! We fully expect each camp to reach that limit and a waiting list will be set up once we hit that threshold. 

Over the course of the week, each camper will be individually instructed by members of the WPU coaching staff and players. We believe that 1 on 1 instruction is the most important key to improvement - which is one of the main reasons why we can our enrollment. This past year we had 15 camp coaches! 

Campers will be able to improve their games through competition, both team and individual. They will be instructed on the fundamentals of how to play offense, including shooting, passing, footwork and individual offensive moves. On the defensive end, they will have the opportunity to learn how to defend 1 on 1 and how that fits into an overall team defensive scheme.

Most importantly, campers will be exposed to high-quality instruction centered on making the camp experience as fun as possible! We would love for you to join us this summer!!

LOCATION: Hermann Athletic Center on the campus of William Peace University

GOALS:

• Have fun, work hard, make every possession count and play to win!
• For each camper to receive 1 on 1 individual attention that is catered to help their game!
• For each camper to have an awesome experience learning the game of basketball
• Learn ways to be able to take what they learned home for continued improvement
• Week-long competition to challenge campers to implement what they have learned

WHILE AT CAMP YOU WILL…

• Learn from current college coaches and players
• Compete in two games per day
• Participate in free throw shooting, 3 point shooting and “Go for it” contests for prizes
• Participate in daily clinics on different aspects of the game
• Have fun!
