UTSA PREP PROGRAM APPLICATION

Welcome to the 2025 Pre-Freshman Engineering Program Application

This application may be completed by using a desktop computer, laptop, mobile device, or tablet. Please be aware that in order to upload some of the required documents, you will need to have PDF, Word or JPEG image versions of the document. If you have issues submitting all the documents, please email prep@utsa.edu for help.

Before you begin, please gather all the required documents listed below and have all the documents scanned and ready to upload in order to complete the application.

1. Current report card. A report card is the document given by each school that reports a student’s numerical grades for a specific six- or nine-week term. Parent portal snapshots are acceptable. The name of the student must be visible on the report card.
2. Essay written by new PREP students answers the prompt below (100-200 words).
   • Why I want to participate in PREP.
   • Why PREP is important to me.
   • What I like about STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).

    3. Conduct letter from school administrator (This letter can be requested at your school's main office).

        Example:

                  To Whom It May Concern:

                  (Student Name), a student at (School Name), has not had any disciplinary incidents in the years they have attended (School Name). 

                  *If there is record of a disciplinary incident(s), please specify reasoning. 

                   Administrator Name and Signature

    4. An unofficial transcript from a school counselor (*only students applying to levels 2 - 5).

    5. Math & Science Teacher work emails (*for New Students ONLY)
        This is to email teachers the nomination forms after you apply.

Additional Registration Information:

• If you are a parent/guardian applying on behalf of your student, you MUST select that you are applying on behalf of your student and must use a different email address than the student’s email address.
• If you are applying for more than one student in the same PREP year, you will have the option to add an additional student at the end of the first application by clicking on ‘Add Participant.’ Each student will need their own unique email address, and all must use a different email address from their parent’s email address.
• After submitting the application, you will receive a confirmation email. If you do not receive a confirmation email, please check your spam/junk folders to verify that the application was submitted.
• If transcript is not required (level 1 students), submit a blank document.
