Event Description
Griffon Skills Camps
The Griffon Baseball Winter Camps will be 3 Separate Skill Instruction Sessions run by the Coaches at MWSU Baseball. Each camp will consist of specific movement preparation and skill development drills. These sessions are a great way to see and experience the elite facilities and information that the Griffon Baseball Program utilizes on a daily basis.
Pitching/Catching Skills Camp: Pitchers will go through the same total body activation and arm care routine that the Griffon Pitchers use daily. They will then work on pitch design with the use of real time, Trackman data in a bullpen setting. The session will then conclude with a recovery routine and mental skills talk.
Hitting Swing and Approach Development: Hitters will go through a series of movement prep, mechanical, pitch recognition and approach-based drills. Players will learn how the Griffon hitters work to build a solid foundation from the ground up and maximize their athletic ability through proper movements. This session will focus on specific swing and movement patterning drills before facing live-arm BP. The players will then be challenged against machines with higher velocity and spin while utilizing a college level approach to increase their quality of contact.
Infield & Catching Defense: Infielders will go through an arm care, movement prep, and catch play routine before doing specific daily fundamental drills that are utilized by the Griffon Infielders. These drills will focus on proper footwork, glove presentation, throwing mechanics, and double play fundamentals. Players will get numerous reps from fungos and machines in addition to team defensive concepts that are utilized by the Griffon Baseball Team.
Catchers will go through an arm care, movement prep, and catch play routine before doing daily fundamental drills that are utilized by the Griffon Catchers. These drills will focus primarily on receiving, but will also cover footwork and throwing mechanics.
