Showcase Camp

Southern Wesleyan Baseball would like to invite you to a showcase style event that consists of a prostyle workout, athletic evaluations, and a camp-style game. During the game, we will have our Trackman system running so college coaches can watch gameplay and evaluate in-game metrics. This camp is largely attended by other D1, D2, D3, NAIA, and Juco institutions

Tentative Schedule:

• 8:00-8:20: Position Player/Two-Way Check in
  • There will be a table set up at the top of the facility, just below the entrance staircase
• 8:30-8:45am: Dynamic Warm up
  • The dynamic warm-up will be run by current college coaches
• 9:00-9:20: Steal Breaks
  • We elect to do steal breaks instead of a 60 because we feel it provides more insight of the athlete on if they fit our system offensively. They will perform 2 steal breaks.
• 9:30- 10:20am: Offensive Rotation
  • Offensive rotation will consist of on-field BP, Exit Velo testing, Drill station, and defense. This is a big opportunity to show offensive skillset in front of college coaches, both on the field and in the cage. 
• 10:30: Pitcher Only Check In
• 10:30am: Throwing Progression
• 10:45-11:10pm: Pro-Style Workout
  • Players will be split into groups based on their primary defensive position. Infield, Outfield, Catcher, Pitcher
  • The pro-style workout will be split into 3 different sessions
    • 1) Outfield, they will make a total of 5 throws (2 @3rd, 3 @Home)
    • 2) Infield, they will make a total of 5 throws (2 straight on, 1 forehand, 1 backhand, 1 slow roll)
    • 3) Catchers, they will make 5 throws (1 warm to 2nd, 4 to 2nd, 1 to 3rd)
• 11:15-11:45pm: Recruiting Talk/Lunch Break
  • Head Coach Robinson will present a recruiting talk while there is a break for lunch. The recruiting talk with hit on points specifically about SWU along with general recruiting tips. We will ask that food is brought with you, so you can eat while also listening.
• 11:45-12:00pm: Game Prep
  • During Game Prep, the pitchers will go with Coach Zurke to start preparing for the 1st pitch. The position players will run, stretch, and throw. 
• 12:10-2:40pm: Game
  • The game will be based on pitchers signed up. Each inning is based on a batter limit, we may ask to put runners on. Pitcher Only will get 2 sets of the batter limit or 2 innings, while the two-way pitchers will get 1 set or 1 inning. At bats will depend on specific numbers signed up for the event.
