If makeup sessions are necessary, they will occur on Wednesdays in February or March.
Our sessions will be designed to teach and practice efficient techniques, in a relaxed setting. The foundation for all fast swimming is an efficient, hydrodynamic platform. Once this platform has been established then kicking, pulling, underwater harmonics, starts, and turns can be developed to optimal levels. We will spend the beginning of most sessions working on establishing and strengthening the swimmer's static platform (ie. floating motionless on their stomach or their back). The remainder of the sessions are spent on developing the most efficient techniques for the focus of the week. We will follow a sequence of strokes similar to the WISC season; back, breast, fly, free, working on each of these for a minimum of two weeks each. We will also work on breakouts, starts, and turns for each stroke.
Initially, swimmers will be grouped by age and are assigned to a coach in groups of 2-3 lanes. We want each swimmer to get as much 1:1 attention as possible.
We may utilize above water video replay to enhance the speed of learning. The brain is quick to notice differences in technique and thus the learning process is enhanced.
