Icebreaker Playday

The Icebreaker will be the season opener for the youth boys lacrosse season, partnering with SMYLA. This playday will feature 7v7 lacrosse that will be played on a shortened field with 2 attackmen, 2 defensemen, 2 midfielders, and 1 goalie per team. Athletes will be mixed from all the youth club organizations and be placed on a team randomly. The teams will be coached by St. Mary's College Men's Lacrosse Athletes. This will be a tournament style where the top two teams from each division will play in a championship game. Teams will be limited to 15 athletes per team to maximize playing time per athlete. Age groups will be broken up into 7th-8th Grade, 5th-6th Grade, 3rd-4th Grade, and 2nd Grade-and Under, allowing for athletes to play with their own age groups. 7v7 is a very fun way of creating unlimited reps of lacrosse action that will help the athletes get better while playing lacrosse. This is a very similar way that people will witness lacrosse in the Olympics in Los Angeles.
