UTSA Mariachi Presents the 2nd Annual Voces del Álamo Vocal Competition 

Submissions: You will receive a separate link to your email with submission instructions. 

• Participants may provide their own live accompaniment or use a pista (track) for their performance. 

Deadline: All submissions must be received by March 20.
Results: Finalists will be notified by email, and results will be announced on our social media platforms (Facebook and Instagram) by March 25.

Important: This registration is for the competition only. After registering, you will receive an email (so please make sure your email is working) with instructions on where to submit your recordings. 

We are thrilled to announce the 2nd Annual Voces del Álamo Vocal Competition, hosted by UTSA Mariachi! This exciting event will be divided into two categories: Elementary/Middle School and High School. 

Competition Format 

• All participants will submit their performances via YouTube link. 
• Every student will receive vocal feedback from the judges. 

Final Round (Live Performance): 

• Only the finalists selected from the preliminary round will perform live. 
• The live finals will take place on March 29, 2025, at the UTSA recital hall. (Arts Building) 

Vocal & Recording Tips 

• Make sure you are fully in frame when recording your performance. 
• Ensure your voice can be clearly heard in the recording. 
• Treat the camera as your judge. Sing directly into it and use it to guide your focus. 
• Test your recording setup before submitting to confirm audio and video quality. 

Special Opportunity 

Finalists will be chosen to perform live in front of a distinguished panel of judges, including: 

• A UTSA professor of voice with expertise in vocal pedagogy 
• A professional mariachi vocalist specializing in mariachi performance 
• A mariachi ensemble professor 

• 1st Place: $300 
• 2nd Place: $200 
• 3rd Place: $100
