Sprinters & Hurdlers Camp
SRU’s Sprint & Hurdle Camp is a three-day intensive camp that will cover advanced sprinting and hurdling techniques. Sprinters will work on warm-up drills, sprint drills, sprint technique, starts and relays. Hurdlers will work on warm-up drills, hurdle drills, starts, high hurdle techniques and intermediate hurdle techniques. Sprinters and hurdlers will also go through sessions in weightlifting, plyometrics, aquatic workouts and other topics directly related to sprinting and hurdling.
The Sprints and Hurdles camp will be led by some of the most accomplished coaches in Pennsylvania at the High School and Collegiate level. In addition to our lead instructors, campers will receive instruction from many current and former SRU track and field sprinters and hurdlers.

Nate Shadeck, Slippery Rock University: Coach Shadeck is in his 16th season coaching at Slippery Rock. Under Coach Shadeck, SRU has become a powerhouse in the sprints and hurdles in the PSAC. His athletes have earned numerous PSAC Championships, school records, and All-American honors.
Tom Meling, Slippery Rock Area High School: Coach Melling serves as the head coach for Slippery Rock Area High School, has built an impressive coaching resume. He coached SR to a PIAA Championship in 2024 and was named PIAA Coach of the Year.
Vanere Maynard, Slippery Rock University: Coach Maynard is in his 6th season on staff at Slippery Rock. Vanere has been an integral part in the SRU Sprints program becoming one of the strongest event groups in the region. The sprinters at SRU have established school and conference records under coach Maynard’s tutelage.
Ryan Weir, Susquehanna University: Coach Weir has turned the Susquehanna River Hawks sprints and hurdles group into one of the strongest groups in the Landmark Conference. As a coach, he has led athletes to numerous All American and All Conference accolades as well as team Landmark Championships.
Please note: To keep the camper-to-instructor ratio low, we will be capping the camp at 60 total athletes. Spots will fill fast, so register ASAP to reserve your spot.

Camp Instructors
Bradi Rhoades, Vault Shack/Westminster College: Coach Bradi Rhoades (‘04 Alumni) and owner of “The Vault Shack” will act as the lead instructor of the SRU Pole Vault Camp! Coach Rhoades has been coaching pole vault at Westminster College for 17 years where he has accumulated 19 NCAA DIII All-Americans including the 2022 NCAA DIII National Champion (Emma Rudolph) and 2017 NCAA DIII National Champion (Marissa Kalsey). In 2017 Marissa Kalsey set the NCAA DIII National meet record at 4.22m (13’10”) which still stands today!
Cam Daugherty, Slippery Rock University: An alum of SRU, Cam was a 5-time NCAA DII All-American in the Pole Vault and 2012 National Champion during his time at the Rock. After his collegiate career, he coached at SRU and was named the Atlantic Region Assistant Coach of the Year in 2017.
Tom Hale, Hickory High School: Coach Hale has coached the Pole Vaulters at Hickory for nearly three decades. During his time he has coached numerous athletes over 16 feet on the men’s side and 12 feet on the women’s side.
Maddie Conley, Vault Shack: Coach Conely was a NCAA DIII All-American Pole Vaulter for Westminster College. Upon graduation, she has worked as a coach at Vault Shack.
