2026 Nelson High School Camps
Games Camp
From Coach Flynn:
In my own development as a baseball player, there was no period more influential than my summer vacations. When I was the age of your players, my summers were simple: I’d wake up, eat breakfast, and head outside to play baseball with my friends until the streetlights came on. While I was fortunate to have many great coaches throughout my career, nothing did more to advance my skills—or my love for the game—than those long days spent simply playing for fun.
Over the years, through conversations with players and parents, it’s become clear that this type of unstructured, pressure-free play has largely disappeared. At the same time, as a high school and college coach, I’ve seen more and more players walk away from the game because they feel it has stopped being fun. That’s a shame—because in my opinion, there’s nothing more fun than playing baseball.
For that reason, Coach Meuel and I introduced Games Camps a few summers ago, and they have quickly become some of our most popular offerings. The goal of this camp is singular: to have fun.
All games are coach-pitch and non-competitive. There are no scouts, umpires, standings, or pressure of any kind. While we will naturally use game situations to teach players the finer points of the game, our primary objective is simple—to remind them why they started playing baseball in the first place.
In addition to plenty of baseball games, campers will also participate in fun competitions such as Home Run Derby and other game-based activities.
Games Camps run Monday through Thursday from 9:00 AM–1:00 PM and make a perfect complement to a week of Kids Camp.
