Event Description

GK CLINIC

Ohio Wesleyan Field Hockey is pleased to offer Keeper2Keeper, a special clinic for goalkeepers and coaches looking to upskill their knowledge of the position. The two- day clinic will take participants through a wide range of topics including:

  • Warm up activities
  • Incorporating goalkeepers into team practice
  • Basic skills
  • Practical footwork
  • Stance
  • Ambidexterity/Body balance/Presence
  • Proactive positioning – Circle defender
  • Ground skills – diving, smothering and stacking
  • Training for success
  • Decision Making
  • Specialty situations – PC/Shootouts/Strokes
  • 7 meter play – Reaction/Rebound/Recovery work
  • Equipment – Essentials, maintenance and repairs

Participants will be exposed to these technical and tactical elements through three on- field sessions, reinforced with classroom/video sessions designed to give all ideas on the how’s and why’s of improving goalkeeper play.

NCAA Assistant coach, American University 1987-1991, Ohio State 1996-2000 and 2006-2011; Penn State 2000-2005, Ohio Wesleyan 2023- present

Belle Perese - Ohio Wesleyan Assistant coach 2026, Playing experiences
Goalkeeper, Thomas Worthington HS, FHL Club, Miami University 2019-2024, Mid American Conference Champions, NCAA Tournament AQs every year as starting keeper.

Keeper2Keeper is open to keepers aged 13-18. Participants must provide their own equipment, water bottle and notebook.

Housing is not provided. There are several hotels/housing options within 5 miles of campus. We encourage you to register as soon as possible. The clinic is limited to 12 goalkeepers. Per NCAA rules, registration must be open and done on a first come, first in basis.

9:00am - 11:30am | Session 1 – Selby Stadium
11:30am - 12:00pm | Lunch
12:00pm - 1:30pm | Classroom session – Edwards Hall, GK – learning to improve
2:00pm - 4:30pm | Session 2 – Selby Stadium
5:00pm - 6:30pm | Classroom session – Video analysis, skills and situations

Evening on your own

Sunday, June 21st
