Monica Abbott Camp @ George Fox University

George Fox University is excited to welcome Monica Abbott to the Pacific Northwest! Monica is one of the most accomplished and recognizable players in the history of fastpitch softball. A two-time Olympic silver medalist with Team USA, Abbott built a legendary career at the University of Tennessee where she became the NCAA Division I all-time leader in wins, strikeouts, shutouts, and innings pitched. She went on to dominate professionally in the United States and internationally, earning multiple championships and MVP honors while helping elevate the game of softball on the world stage.Known for her powerful left-handed pitching, elite competitiveness, and passion for developing young athletes, Monica has spent years mentoring the next generation of players through clinics and instruction across the country. This is a unique opportunity for athletes to learn directly from one of softball’s all-time greats and gain insight from a player who has competed at the highest levels of the game.

This camp will also feature guest instructor Ron Thompson, president and founder of the USA Explosion.

Session 1 (12u Pitching): This session will feature pitching instruction from Monica Abbott and will also include a motivational talk by Monica as well as opportunity for pictures and autographs.

Session 2 (12u Catching): This session will include approx 45 minutes of catcher specific defensive skill work and drills as well as time catching pitchers. Catchers will also receive instruction on developing the pitcher/catcher relationship, and will participate in a motivational talk with Monica and have opportunity for photos and autographs.

Session 3: This hitting session is open to all ages, and will include instruction from Monica, the George Fox University coaching staff and players, and Ron Thompson-President of the USA Explosion. Campers will learn drills to improve consistency and power, and will leave with a wealth of information they can take home and continue to use to develop their offensive skills.

Session 4 (13 and older Pitching): This session will feature pitching instruction from Monica Abbott and will also include a motivational talk by Monica as well as opportunity for pictures and autographs.

Session 5 (13 and older Catching): This session will include approx 45 minutes of catcher specific defensive skill work and drills as well as time catching pitchers. Catchers will also receive instruction on developing the pitcher/catcher relationship, and will participate in a motivational talk with Monica and have opportunity for photos and autographs.
