The University of Michigan Water Polo Athletes & Coaches will be hosting a skills & drills clinic prior to their Maize & Blue intersquad scrimmage at East Grand Rapids High School. High School aged female athletes will get the chance to work with the elite coaching staff of one of the top teams in the nation to expand their fundamentals, shooting techniques, and defensive knowledge. With hands-on coaching from some of the NCAA's best players, this camp will be an immersive opportunity to level up your water polo experience.

This clinic includes free admission to the exhibition game of Michigan Women's Water Polo that follows the clinic from 5-6:30pm

Camp will be coached by: 

• Chris Vidale was named the head coach of the University of Michigan water polo program on May 21, 2026, after spending the last 10 seasons as the head coach at Marist.

Vidale comes to Ann Arbor after spending the last 10 seasons as the women’s head coach at Marist, compiling a 194-117 record with eight 20-win seasons. He led the Red Foxes to the 2021 MAAC Championship and a berth in the NCAA Tournament, picking up a 9-8 first-round win over Salem to advance to the quarterfinals for the first time in program history.

This past season, Vidale was named the MAAC Coach of the Year for the first time as the Red Foxes went 8-0 in conference action and made a run to the MAAC championship match. Ines Sanchez was named the MAAC Goalkeeper of the Year and the Red Foxes put a league-best three players on the All-MAAC first team. 

Throughout his 10 seasons at Marist, he coached his players to 17 Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches Women’s Division I All-America honorable mention citations. 

He has been a mainstay on the coaching staff of the USA water polo cadet team, helping them claim bronze at the 2024 PanAm Aquatics U19 Water Polo Championships in El Salvador. He is helping the team prepare for the upcoming world championships in Croatia later this summer.

• Assistant Coach & Olympic Gold Medalist: Sami Tai

Sami Tai enters her fifth season as a coach for the University of Michigan Water Polo team. Coach Sami acted as the interim head coach for the 2026 season and led the team to an 18-10 record and a third-place finish in the CWPA Championship in Ann Arbor.

Sami, an accomplished water polo player, hails from Santa Barbara, California. She helped Team USA to gold medals at the 2016 Rio Olympics, 2015 World Championships and 2014, '15, and '16 FINA World League Super Final, 2014 FINA World cup and 2015 Pan American Games. She graduated from UCLA in 2015.

Tai coached at her alma mater, Dos Pueblos High School, helming both the boys and girls varsity teams from 2016-2019. During her two seasons with the team, Hill led the squads to back-to-back Channel League Championship titles.

• Assistant Coach & Recruiting Coordinator: Maddie O'Reilly 

Maddie O'Reilly is entering her third year as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the University of Michigan Water Polo team. She was hired in the summer of 2024 following her career playing professional water polo in Europe.

After graduating from Michigan in 2022, O'Reilly played professional water polo for two clubs in Europe. With Lille Metropole Club, O'Reilly won the 2022-23 French League Championships and reached the Euro Cup quarterfinals with Greece's Glyfada Nautical Sports Club.

As a former student-athlete at Michigan, O'Reilly shined for the Maize and Blue from 2018-22, serving as team captain for the 2021 season. In 136 games, O'Reilly tallied 194 goals and 151 assists for a total of 345 points. She garnered countless awards at U-M, including two ACWPC All-American distinctions and CWPA Player of the Year in 2021. O'Reilly was equally skilled in the classroom, winning the U-M Academic Achievement Award three straight years.

Refund Policy: The camp fee, less a $55 non-refundable administrative deposit, will be refunded without question if you cancel two (2) weeks prior to the beginning of camp. At any time after that date, refunds (less the $55 non-refundable deposit) will be made for medical reasons only and must be accompanied by a signed medical statement from your physician. Schedule conflicts do not justify refund or cancellation. If no request for cancellation is made before the beginning of the first day of the chosen camp, absolutely no refunds will be given for any reason.
