Swim Lesson Information

The College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University are proud to offer our Saints Learn-to-Swim program again in the Fall of 2026! Our goal is to give kids in central Minnesota an opportunity to learn to swim in a safe environment from trained instructors. The joy of swimming is something all kids should have the opportunity to find, we work to cultivate that joy through learning skills and fun games in and around the pool.

Our instructors are students from CSB and SJU, most of whom are part of the swim and dive team. Their knowledge in the world of aquatics is vast and all have been trained and gone through background checks to improve the quality and safety of the experience for your child. All class sessions will have a manager on hand as well who can introduce classes and teachers, as well as answer questions parents have about classes or lessons.

Classes are anywhere from 25 – 45 minutes long and will focus on learning the basic steps necessary to become safe in the water and confident as a swimmer. Class sizes are capped at 4 students, meaning each child will get lots of time with the instructor learning how to be comfortable and safe in the water. The goal of the small class size is to help students maximize their time in the water with the instructor and get the most out of their swimming lesson experience. At the end of the session, students will be given a certificate of completion, with notes on how to they did in the class, what skills they need to work on, and what class they are recommended to attend next time.
