Event Description

Prospect Camp and Games

The University of the Incarnate Word Softball Prospect Camp is designed to provide athletes with an opportunity to develop their skills in a competitive NCAA Division I training environment while being evaluated by the UIW coaching staff.

Camp Schedule

Saturday, September 12

  • 8:30 AM – 9:00 AM: Registration & Check-In
  • 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Skills Portion
  • 12:00 PM - 12:40 PM: Lunch Break
  • 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM: Scrimmages

Sunday, September 13

  • 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM: Full Game Team 1 & 2
  • 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM: Full Game Team 3 & 4

The camp will begin with a comprehensive metrics evaluation, where athletes will participate in objective testing to measure key performance indicators. Metrics may include throwing velocity, exit velocity, home-to-first times, defensive arm strength, and other position-specific measurements that provide valuable feedback for player development and collegiate recruiting.

Following the evaluation, campers will receive approximately 2.5 hours of position-specific instruction focused on hitting and defensive fundamentals. Players will work through drills designed to improve mechanics, athletic movement, decision-making, and game awareness while receiving individualized coaching from the UIW coaching staff and proctors.

The instructional portion of camp will transition into live competition, allowing athletes to apply the skills they have learned in game-like situations. Players will participate in various forms of live offensive and defensive reps, including live pitching, defensive scenarios, situational play, and simulated game innings. This competitive environment provides campers the opportunity to showcase their abilities while experiencing the pace and expectations of a Division I softball program.

Sunday, September 13

  • 9:00 AM–12:30 PM: Live Competition & Simulated Games

The second day of camp is dedicated to maximizing live evaluations. Athletes will compete in extended game situations, giving the UIW coaching staff additional opportunities to evaluate offensive and defensive skills, softball IQ, competitiveness, and overall athletic ability in a game environment.
