Event Description
Catchers Clinics
Our NSU Catchers Clinics are designed to provide focused, position-specific instruction for athletes who want to develop the complete skill set behind the plate.
Each session will include hands-on instruction from the NSU Softball coaching staff and catchers, with an emphasis on the fundamentals and details that make a difference at the catcher position.
Instruction may include:
- Receiving & Framing – developing strong glove presentation, body positioning, and receiving techniques
- Blocking – proper positioning, angles, recovery, and keeping the ball in front
- Throwing & Pop Times – footwork, transfers, arm action, accuracy, and creating an efficient throw
- Plays at the Plate – positioning, receiving throws, tags, and game-speed decision making
- Bunts & Passed-Ball Recoveries – footwork, ball handling, and making efficient throws
- Communication & Leadership – learning how to take command behind the plate and communicate with pitchers and the defense
- Game IQ – understanding situations, pitch awareness, defensive responsibilities, and the mental side of catching
Sessions are intentionally kept small and instruction-focused so each catcher receives individual feedback and plenty of repetitions.
Whether you're looking to sharpen your fundamentals or take your catching to the next level, these clinics are built to help athletes become more confident, efficient, and complete catchers.
