Event Description
2018 BUTTERFLY OR BREASTSTROKE CLINIC
|
These clinics are desiged to make significant improvements in stroke technique. It is our belief that technical efficiency is the fastest way to make time improvements. Efficiency is characterized by improved distance per stroke with lower energy output. We address only one of the swimmer's strokes during the clinic. This is to ensure adequate time to build new neuromuscular patterns. We will spend about an hour on horizontal body positioning with flotation and rotation or undulation drills. It will be very helpful to have a snorkel. If you do not own one you may purchase one when you register for the clinic and pick it up when you check in.
We will spend the remaining time focusing on specific skill development. We will underwater video each swimmer then review their video with them. We use video of world class swimmers to illustrate the movements we are hoping to create. Our hope is to see some significant technical changes at the end of the clinic. With time and practice, those changes can become the dominant patterns and result in improved performances.
