Clinic Goal:
Our instructors will work both in and out of the water with swimmers to teach and improve the fundamentals of each competitive swimming strokes: stroke technique, body position, turns and breakouts. Along with these skills, we will be promoting sportsmanship, and leadership.

Format:
Each session will begin with warm up followed by drills where the stroke is broken down and built back up correctly. Then we will run a small set where they can incorporate what they learned during drill with the goal of maintaining proper technique. This will be followed by a fun game to reinforce the skills and then a lunch break to refuel. After lunch we will have a featured talk, followed by drills and another small set before we finish up with another fun activity such as a relay or another game.
Thursday will consist of Butterfly and Breaststroke.
Friday will consist of Freestyle and Backstroke

Featured Talk:
After the lunch break we will have a featured talk lead by Northern State University's head coach. Positive mental skills training, appropriate to age group and with a practical approach will be presented. Other important skills such a visualization, nutrition, the importance of dryland and how to pack a swim bag will also be discussed.

Lunch:
All swimmers must pack a nutritious lunch as well as a sack and a water bottle. During lunch, swimmers will be able to participate in an informal Q&A with the instructors.

Equipment:
Each swimmer must arrive wearing a bathing suit and must bring a cap, goggles and towel.

Open to All Ages:
Must be able to swim two lengths of the pool (50 meters) continuously and without aid. Must also have a working knowledge of the stroke specific clinic.

Arrival and Departure:
Check in will be held in hallway outside of the pool in Northern State University’s Barnett Center no earlier than 15 minutes prior to the start of the clinic.
Check out will be h Fridayeld in the same location promptly at 4:30PM on Thursday and 2PM. For safety purposes, each swimmer must be checked out with an adult.

Facilities:
Northern State University’s 6 lane 25 meter pool.

Injury:
The clinic, or any of the Northern State clinic instructors are not responsible for any injuries or accidents that occur during the clinic session.
