2019 BRONCO COMPLETE CAMPS


The Bronco Hockey Complete Camp is virtually two camps in one. Each morning session will focus exclusively on power skating, with each afternoon focusing on individual skills.

U8 (7-8): 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
SQUIRTS (9-10): 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
PEEWEES (11-12): 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Lunch is PROVIDED for all Bronco Hockey Camp participants daily.

COMPLETE MORNING
In this session, we focus on skating technique, with the thought that perfect practice makes perfect. Any technical flaw in a skater’s stride acts as limiting factor in how good that skater can become.

COMPLETE AFTERNOON
In this session the emphasis is placed on individual puck skills. Along with the puck skills each day, at least one new hockey concept or team skill will be taught. The afternoon session will also feature a daily scrimmage that will allow the camper the opportunity to practice his/her newly acquired skills.

CAMP STAFF
The Bronco Hockey Camp Program is designed and led by:

  • Andy Murray - Head Coach
    Served as head coach for the Los Angeles Kings and St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League before coming to Western Michigan University. Coached Canada to three IIHF World Championship gold medals. Murray was inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame for his accomplishments as a coach/builder.
  • Dave Shyiak - Associate Head Coach
    Most recently served as amateur scout for the for the Toronto Maple Leafs before joining WMU. Spent eight seasons as the head coach of Alaska-Anchorage and prior to that was an assistant and associate head coach at Northern Michigan. From 1993-2001 spent time as head coach and general manager of various junior hockey league teams.
  • Todd Krygier - Assistant Coach
    Most recently served as head coach for the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the United States Hockey League. Also served as head coach at Novi High School for seven seasons and was named the MHSHCA Division I Coach of the Year after helping the program to their first state championship. He appeared in 543 games in the National Hockey league, mostly with the Washington Capitals and played his college career at UCONN.
  • JJ Crew - Director of Player Development
    WMU Hockey alum that helped the Broncos to a CCHA Tournament Championship in 2012. Spent 2013-15 as assistant coach with the Hampton Road Whalers Tier 3 team of the USPHL. In 2015 he became the head coach of the Colorado Rampage Tier 3 team of the RMJHL. In 2016 he attended Ohio University and served as the graduate assistant coach for OU’s ACHA Division I hockey team. The past two seasons he’s assisted WMU as the director for player development.
  • Tom Askey - Goalie Coach
    Former goalie at Ohio State from 1992-96, then drafted by the Anaheim Ducks. In addition to playing in the NHL he played in the AHL, IHL, UHL and EIHL. Since 2012 he has been assisting the Bronco goalies.
  • Alyssa Dutton - Skating Coach
    Current coach for the 2019 WMU Skating Club National Silver Medalists and is starting her third season with the team. Alyssa severs as the on-ice power skating instructor, working with the skaters on stroking, edges, and backward and forward skating skills.
  • Bronco Hockey Players
    Current WMU Hockey team members will assist.
