2019 MAIZE AND BLUE TENNIS CAMP

JULY 22ND - 25TH
Commuter Ages: 8 - 18, Boys & Girls
Resident Ages: 10 - 18, Boys & Girls
Time: 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Location: Varsity Tennis Center

University of Michigan Maize and Blue Tennis Camps held in July for two weeks and open to all junior players within the ages of 9-17. Residential and commuter available. Head Coach Adam Steinberg will be the Director and will be his fith year running the Michigan camps.

Camp Highlights:

  • Individual Stroke Technique
  • Match Play and Team Tennis Tactical Instruction for Singles and Doubles
  • Camp T-shirts Other activities may include bowling and movies.

What To Bring:

  • All campers should bring a tennis racquet, water bottle, hat, sunscreen & non-marking tennis shoes. Running shoes will not be permitted.
  • Resident campers will need a pillow & pillowcase, bedding (XL twin sheets or sleeping bag), towels, alarm clock, toiletries, shower shoes, fan (no air conditioning in dorm rooms), tennis clothes/socks, casual clothes, playing cards/games, snacks, spending money (for vending machines.)

Housing: The University of Michigan Residence Halls will be the home for resident campers at the University of Michigan Tennis Camp.  An e-mail confirmation will inform each camper of the dorm assignment. Rooms are double occupancy. Campers are supervised by counselors and a first responder day and night. Campers must be 10 years old to stay in the dorms.

Meals: Lunch will be served to all campers at the Varsity Tennis Center. Dinner will be served to Resident campers in the residence hall cafeteria. Breakfast will be served to Resident campers only in the residence hall cafeteria.

Transportation: Transportation will be provided for resident campers from the Residence Hall to and from the Varsity Tennis Center. All resident campers must use the transportation provided by the camp.

Insurance: Each camper will be covered by the University of Michigan Tennis Camp insurance as secondary coverage. Personal health insurance is the primary coverage in the event of illness or injury.

Schedule:

  • Monday: 
    • 8:00 - 8:30 a.m. → Resident camper check-in at South Quad with parent
    • 8:30 - 9:00 a.m. → Commuter camper check-in at the Varsity Tennis Center
    • 9:00 - 11:45 a.m. → Tennis drills / match play
    • 11:45 a.m. - 1:15 p.m. → Lunch
    • 1:15 - 4:00 p.m. → Tennis drills / match play
    • 4:00 p.m. → Pick up commuter campers
    • 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. → Resident camper dinner at South Quad
    • 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. → Camp activities (tennis or bowling)
    • 8:00 - 10:00 p.m. → Supervised activities at South Quad
    • 11:00 p.m. → Lights out
  • Tuesday - Wednesday:
    • 8:45 a.m. → Commuter camper drop-off
    • 9:00 - 11:45 a.m. → Tennis drills / match play
    • 11:45 a.m. - 1:15 p.m. → Lunch
    • 1:15 - 4:00 p.m. → Tennis drills / match play
    • 4:00 p.m. → Commuter camper pick up
    • 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. → Resident camper dinner at South Quad
    • 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. → Camp activities (tennis or bowling)
    • 8:00 - 10:00 p.m. → Supervised activities at South Quad
    • 11:00 p.m. → Lights out
  • Thursday:
    • 8:45 a.m. → Commuter camper drop-off
    • 9:00 - 11:45 a.m. → Tennis drills / match play

Health & Safety: Each camper must have Medical / Health Insurance forms.

Pick-up authorization required for each camp. Name, number, relationship too.
