2019 WOLVERINE TENNIS CAMPS

Resident Times: 8:00 a.m., Monday - 4:00 p.m., Thursday

This 4-day tennis camp is held at the UM Varsity Tennis Center and directed by Michigan coaches Ronni Bernstein and Teryn Ashley-Fitch.  Girls and boys from age 8 to 18 may participate. Both commuter and residents camps are offered.

Camp Highlights:

Facilities: Daily camp activities will take place on the indoor & outdoor courts at the U-M Varsity Tennis Center, 2250 South State Street, Ann Arbor, MI 48109. Lunch will be served to all campers each day. Resident campers will have breakfast (T, W & Th) and dinner (M, T & W) at South Quad.

Drop-Off / Pick-Up:

  • Resident campers will check in at South Quad (600 East Madison Street) on Monday morning between 8:00 and 8:30 am. Parents will drive campers to the Varsity Tennis Center (2250 South State Street) after putting their belongings in their room. Pick-up is Thursday at 4:15 pm at South Quad.
  • Commuter campers will check in at the Varsity Tennis Center (2250 South State Street) on Monday between 8:30 and 9:00 am. Commuter camper drop-off on Tuesday through Thursday is at 8:45 am; daily pick-up is at 4:00 pm.

What To Bring:

  • All campers should bring a tennis racquet, water bottle, hat, sunscreen & non-marking tennis shoes. Running shoes will not be permitted.
  • Resident campers will need a pillow & pillowcase, bedding (XL twin sheets or sleeping bag), towels, alarm clock, toiletries, shower shoes, fan (no air conditioning in dorm rooms), tennis clothes/socks, casual clothes, playing cards/games, snacks, spending money (for vending machines.)

Housing: The University of Michigan Residence Halls will be the home for resident campers at the University of Michigan Tennis Camp.  An e-mail confirmation will inform each camper of the dorm assignment. Rooms are double occupancy. Campers are supervised by counselors and a first responder day and night. Campers must be 10 years old to stay in the dorms.

Meals: Lunch will be served to all campers at the Varsity Tennis Center. Dinner will be served to Resident campers in the residence hall cafeteria. Breakfast will be served to Resident campers only in the residence hall cafeteria.

Transportation: Transportation will be provided for resident campers from the Residence Hall to and from the Varsity Tennis Center. All resident campers must use the transportation provided by the camp.

Medical Care: Wolverine Tennis, LLC will have a first responder on hand at VTC during all tennis play for minor injuries. Emergency care will be provided by the University of Michigan Hospital for more serious injuries. While the tennis camp provides secondary insurance, the camper’s health insurance will be used as the primary coverage and all forms will be on hand with the first responder.

Insurance: Each camper will be covered by the University of Michigan Tennis Camp insurance as secondary coverage. Personal health insurance is the primary coverage in the event of illness or injury.

Camp Policies:

  • Refund Policy: A $100 deposit (non-refundable) is required for each session. The balance is due by May 24/June Camps and June 24/July Camps.  Camp fees will not be pro-rated.  There will be a 5.25% fee for on-line registration, which is non-refundable.  Health, parental consent, and insurance forms are due with the balance by May 24/June Camps and June 24/July Camps.  No refunds will be issued for cancellations within one week of camp session start date.
  • Weather Policy: In the event of severe weather (extreme heat, tornado, lightning, sustained rain), campers will be sheltered at the Varsity Tennis Center.
  • Camp Dismissal Policy: Camp staff reserves the right to dismiss any campers whose actions put their health or the health and well-being of other campers in question, with no refund given. Camp directors will have final say over the dismissal of campers. Alcohol, tobacco and illegal drugs are strictly prohibited and possession will result in immediate dismissal.

    • 8:00 - 8:30 a.m. → Resident camper check-in at South Quad with parent
    • 8:30 - 9:00 a.m. → Commuter camper check-in at the Varsity Tennis Center
    • 9:00 - 11:45 a.m. → Tennis drills / match play
    • 11:45 a.m. - 1:15 p.m. → Lunch
    • 1:15 - 4:00 p.m. → Tennis drills / match play
    • 4:00 p.m. → Pick up commuter campers
    • 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. → Resident camper dinner at South Quad
    • 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. → Camp activities (tennis or bowling)
    • 8:00 - 10:00 p.m. → Supervised activities at South Quad
    • 11:00 p.m. → Lights out
  • Tuesday - Wednesday:
    • 8:45 a.m. → Commuter camper drop-off
    • 9:00 - 11:45 a.m. → Tennis drills / match play
    • 11:45 a.m. - 1:15 p.m. → Lunch
    • 1:15 - 4:00 p.m. → Tennis drills / match play
    • 4:00 p.m. → Commuter camper pick up

Health & Safety: 

  • Each camper must have Medical / Health Insurance forms.
  • Completed Health & Liability Forms are due by May 24th. Please see your confirmation email for more information.
  • Pick-up authorization required for each camp. Name, number, relationship too.
