This camp is an intensive workshop style camp for students interested in the Performing Arts, both onstage and behind the scenes. Instructors are all working professionals and college students in the field. Students will have lots of fun while learning their craft. Students will receive instruction in acting, voice, dance, theatre history, music theory, costuming, stage properties, and more. The PA Camp runs for two weeks each June (see dates below) and will culminate with a performance on the evening of the final day.
There is a $100 discount for siblings after first full price student.
Scholarships are available. To be considered for a scholarship an audition is required. Auditions are the last week of May , by appointment. Please contact camp the administrator for an audition. ( mpietri1@sbcglobal.net)

To ensure students spot in camp, the registration fee must be paid by May 25th. The on line Registration will close once camp is full. This may happen before the May deadline. Register early to ensure space availability.

William McCrary
is an Associate Professor and the Director of Lyric Theatre at the University of Texas at San Antonio.
Over the past 35 years McCrary has directed and performed in over 200 musicals and operas in California, Colorado, Idaho, Louisiana, Montana, and Texas. He is a recipient of the San Antonio Conservation Society’s Hero Award and in 2013, Bill and his wife, Michelle, were honored by the Alamo Theatre Arts Council with the Jasmina Wellinghoff Award for their contributions to San Antonio area theatre.
While attending school at the University of Montana, McCrary was an active performer with the Missoula Children’s Theatre. Upon graduation he toured the entire U.S. as an actor/director with the famed children’s theatre company. Using the MCT model as his inspiration, McCrary created his own touring program at UTSA to introduce young audiences to opera. For the past 15 years the UTSA Opera on the Run program has performed for close to 220,000 Texas youth. In 2015, McCrary earned both The Distinguished Alumnus Award from The University of California at Davis and the UTSA President’s Distinguished Achievement Award for Community Service for this unique and inspiring program.
Michelle Pietri
received her Bachelor degree from the University of New Orleans and her Master of Fine Arts from Tulane University. She has performed locally, nationally, and internationally and worked professionally as a director, choreographer and costume designer. Her work has been seen from California to the Czech Republic and Russia. In 2003 Michelle began working for the UTSA Lyric Theatre program as a choreographer, costumer, and director. In San Antonio, Michelle has worked as a guest artist for Incarnate Word University, Trinity University, St Philips College, North West Vista College, The Playhouse San Antonio, the Sheldon Vexler theatre, Allegro Theatre company, Harlequin Dinner Theatre, SRO and Associates, and Fiesta Texas. Ms. Pietri has been awarded many awards of excellence for her choreography in the musical theatre field and in 2014 she and her husband, William McCrary, were recognized by the Alamo Theatre Arts Council with the Jasmina Wellinghoff Award for their contributions to San Antonio area theatre. In 2009 Michelle began teaching the first credited dance classes for the new dance program at UTSA. Michelle loves teaching theatre and dance to every age group. She assures her students and cast members that there is no one she cannot teach to dance. She hopes her passion for the arts is infectious to all with whom she works. To quote Martha Graham, ”Technique doesn’t make a great dancer, passion makes a great dancer”. Michelle is one of the directors of UTSA’s Summer Performing Arts Camps and Workshops for grades 3 through 12. She is so excited that our university now has a minor available in the art form she loves so much.
Jacob Valdez
Jacob Valadez, tenor, and native of San Antonio, TX, received a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio and a Master of Music degree from Baylor University. Jacob has performed in numerous leading roles, such as Bob in The Old Maid and the Thief, Papageno in The Magic Flute, Marcello in La Boheme, Dr. Craven in The Secret Garden, Dr. Gregg in Gallantry, Aeneas in Dido and Aeneas, The Marquis de la Force and the Jailer in Dialogues of the Carmelites, and has also appeared as a soloist with the San Antonio Symphony. Jacob has recently made role debuts as the Chief in the world premiere of Las Fundaciones de Béjar and the role of Dr. Baglioni with Alamo City Opera in its production of La Hija de Rappaccini by Daniel Catán, the first contemporary opera sung in Spanish in San Antonio's history. Jacob is also the choral director and Harlandale High School in San Antonio, TX and is currently in his 5th year of teaching.
