Golf Outing & Alumni Game

DETROIT -- The Wayne State University baseball program is proud to present the annual Wayne State Baseball Golf Outing and Alumni Game experience.  The alumni weekend will once again be held on two separate days to better accommodate travel and event schedule.  Alumni game festivities will be held on Saturday, Sept. 15th and the golf outing will take place on Saturday, Oct. 6th.

Former Tartars and Warriors will have the opportunity to test their skills against the "Green Monster" in left field, as well as catch up with old teammates and see the improved WSU athletic campus and tour the newly opened Harwell Field.  Batting practice begins at 11:00 a.m. and the game will start at noon. Another new addition this year will be the alumni game doubleheader.  The alumni will be split up into two teams for game one, while game two will be the young alumni against the current roster.  Following the game, alumni are invited to stay on campus for the WSU football game against Ashland at 6:00 p.m.  A WSU tailgate for baseball alumni and families will be featured.  WSU Baseball Alumni please RSVP your attendance to Wayne State Alumni Association President and former shortstop Frank Jeney at fjeney@uwindsor.ca.

The golf outing will be held at Lakes of Taylor Golf Club.  The outing will begin on Oct. 6, with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m.  The outing will follow a typical scramble format.  This event is open to alumni, families, friends, and supporters of WSU Baseball.  The Lakes of Taylor Golf Club is a par 72 championship course, and it spans a total of 7,028 yards from its longest tees. The course begins with the picturesque stadium hole, where golfers kick off from an elevated tee that plays between 435 and 332 total yards. What follows is a course that is both thought provoking and relaxing, perfect for challenging more experienced players along with helping rookies relax as they learn and absorb this classic game of golf.  In addition, the football team is hosting Grand Valley State that night at 6:00 p.m. and alumni are invited to cheer on the Warriors at Tom Adams Field.

The cost for the golf outing is $125 per player or $500 for a foursome.  In addition, the baseball program is seeking raffle and auction prizes for this event.  An event dinner and program is included.  All items donated will be tax deductible to the fullest fair market value of the item.  Hole, event related, and title sponsorship opportunities are available.
