DeSales University is proud to present a quality instructional pitching & catching camp for players ages 8 - 17. The camp is divided into two sessions: session 1 - Ages 8 - 12 and session 2 - Ages 13 - 17. This camp is designed to be a very advanced camp with a high level of instruction. The baseball school consists of three weekends with players attending for two hours every Saturday and Sunday. Enrollment will be limited in order to maximize personal instruction. Players will be grouped according to age, physical maturity, previous experience and overall ability.

Our primary goal is to instruct all players on proper pitching & catching mechanics which will maximize performance. Players will be introduced to a series of form drills, which are designed to isolate various mechanics. Drills will be used to correctly show how to throw two and four seam fastballs, breaking balls and change-ups. Players will work through a series of location drills first with the fastball and then with the off speed pitches. Instruction will be given on the proper stride, hip alignment and release points for throwing the ball to the inside, middle and outside part of the plate.

Players will also be videotaped to allow each player to view his strengths and weaknesses as critiqued by the coaching staff. This will be done each weekend so that the player can see if he is correcting problems in which the coach has pointed out.

Catching Typical Day:

  • Framing & receiving drills
  • Block & recover drills
  • Throwing mechanics
  • Bunt & steal plays
  • Force plays

  • Players will be shown proper stretching exercises to prevent arm injuries.
  • Proper grips and release points will constantly be re-enforced on fastballs and off-speed pitches.
