Pitching/Catching Skills Camp
Pitchers will go through drills for mechanics, arm care, throwing development and also throw a live bullpen at the end of the day. Catchers will go through a comprehensive drill series teaching the fundamentals of blocking, receiving, throwing, as well as tag and force plays, pop-ups, and bunts. Catchers (and pitchers that would like to) will also go through a series of hitting drills to help improve the swing. All campers will be evaluated on defensive ability, arm-pitching velocity, 60 yd dash, and exit velocity (for hitters). Instruction: The Albion College Coaching staff, current and past players, as well as area high school coaches will provide the instruction. The athletes will go thru drills working on mechanics and specific drills for pitching/catching. Campers will also spend time learning hitting drills and techniques used by the Britons (if pitchers desire). Approximately half the time will be spent on offense and the other half on defense. While players will be evaluated on both offense and defense this is not just a showcase format camp. Instruction will still be the largest element of the camp. Players will be evaluated on 60 yd. times, arm velocity, ball exit velocity, and other information.
Location: Dow Athletic Facility on the Albion campus What to Bring: Glove, proper attire, athletic shoes (no cleats), bat, catchers bring gear |
