Camp Description: The Bears winter Infield is an instructional camp focused on improving all aspects of infield play for a player who wants to be able to play infield at the collegiate level. Bear instruction will be led by UNC Infield Coach Jake Ek, current UNC Infielders, the rest of the UNC Baseball Staff. Coach Ek played under the well renown Kai Correa at UNC in 2015 and 2016 and has taken a lot of his teaching’s into his own coaching. They have done multiple camps together so the format will be very similar, if you have attended a Friday Fielder’s Camp. Below are some of the area’s that we will touch base on.

Areas of Emphasis Include:
  • Making Glove Skills More Versatile
  • Establishing a Reliable Pre-Pitch Routine
  • Developing Pre-Field & Post Field Footwork Patterns
  • Establishing Adjustable Rhythm & Timing
  • The Importance of the Daily Catch Play Routine
  • Introducing Specialty Partner & Group Catch Play Drills
  • Exposure to Unique & Unpredictable Reaction Drills
  • Efficiently Turning the Double Play
  • Receiving Short Hops & Applying Tags
  • Right-Footed On the Run Plays
  • Additional Infield Skills (Relaying, Stretching, Catching Infield Pop Flys)
