Junior Day National will be held at Bob "Turtle" Smith stadium on the campus of the University of Maryland. The 78 participants in the Junior Day National event will represent some of the best players across the country who attended a previous Junior Day Baseball regional event this summer or received an invite. Players will be given the opportunity to work with our on-field staff of college coaches to get valuable feedback on their skills though a written evaluation that will breakdown all of the valued metrics in today’s game. We will also be inviting hundreds of other coaches to the event to observe the two days of action.

Players will be broken down into three teams that will represent the Eastern, Central, and Western United States. Each team will consist of 10 pitchers, 4 catchers, 6 infielders, 3 first basemen, and 6 outfielders. Pitchers will throw up to three innings of live game play while position players will rotate with all receiving an equal number of innings in the field to ensure a thorough game evaluation.

WHAT WILL BE INCLUDED AS PART OF THE JUNIOR DAY NATIONAL SHOWCASE
TEAM SHOWCASE: Each team will get a session on field with all of the coaches for evaluation in the 60 yard dash, Home-to-First, Hitting Exit Velocity, Batting Practice, and Extended Infield/Outfield with recorded throwing velocities.

INDIVIDUAL TEAM TALK: Each team will get to have a more intimate discussion with a college coach to ask questions and discuss what coaches look for in game play and showcasing environments.

GAMES: Each team will play four games of 7-9 innings each with a doubleheader on Saturday and Sunday. All players will receive equal playing time to ensure a proper in-game evaluation.

SEMINAR ON COLLEGE DEVELOPMENT & RECRUITING: On Friday, August 9th after hotel check in and event registration our staff of coaches will present a discussion with parents and players on development at the college level and the college recruiting process. This will be an open forum between parents, players and the coaches that are involved in these processes on a day to day basis.

HOW DOES THIS DIFFER FROM A STANDARD JUNIOR DAY REGIONAL EVENT?
Much like our Junior Day regional events we will put college coaches on the field with high school players who want to learn about today’s game from the actual coaches who are at the college level. However there are some great additions to our National Event that you won’t see in a regional setting:

  1. Live Game Play with present playing schedules
  2. Written Evaluation
  3. Skill Metrics Evaluation
  4. Intimate small group discussions with coaches about how to engage college coaches in a coaching and showcasing environment
  5. Each player will be provided a Junior Day National hat and numbered jersey
  6. Opportunity to compete against players from all over the country
