Summer Skills Camp

Seton Hill University Baseball is excited to continue its successful series of skills clinics in the summer of 201 9 with the program’s 15th annual summer camp to be held on the Griffins baseball field. The complex, considered to be one of the best diamonds in Western PA, is located on campus and boasts an artificial turf playing surface, two full -size batting cages, 60 foot dugouts & new turf bullpens.

HITTING: The Seton Hill Baseball hitting philosophy will be taught using a variety of drills, demonstrations and live hitting stations, as well as instruction and drills on the lost art of proper bunting technique.

PITCHING: Sound pitching mechanics will be the foundation of the instruction given, practiced by campers through various pitching drills, bullpen work and live game sessions. Instruction will also be given on proper arm care, grips and pick-off moves for older players.

BASERUNNING: Instruction on base running will include proper techniques for leads, steals and overall base running concepts.

DEFENSE: Proper mechanics instruction will be emphasized for catching, infield and outfield play through a series of position-specific drills, as well as live-game experience.

Camp Schedule a typical camp day will run as follows:

  • 9:00 – 9:20 Stretching / Baserunning
  • 9:20 – 9:40 Throwing Drills
  • 9:40 – 10:10 Defensive drill work
  • 10:10 – 10:50 Hitting drill work
  • 10:50 – 11:00 Break / Q & A sessions
  • 11:00 – 11:30 Simulated live games
  • 11:30 – 12:00 Competitions / Pitching drills
** All Players must bring their own gloves, bats, and catchers equipment. Younger players are encouraged to bring their own batting helmets if available. Please wear proper attire, which includes baseball spikes and baseball pants or shorts
