Camp Description: Future Bear Winter Pitching & Catching Camp is a chance to both improve and showcase your pitching and catching skills with the UNC coaching staff and current players. These Winter camps are centered around development to help advance skills.

Pitching Section:
Pitchers will receive instruction from UNC Pitching Coach, Nick Childs, on how the UNC Bears pitching staff prepares, in addition each prospect will showcase their abilities in a one on one bullpen session. Pitching at a high level take a lot of preparation and attention to detail. This camp will provide campers with a routine that they can use on a daily basis to compete at a high level. Camp will include stations covering the following topics:
•    Live bullpen (Rapsodo option explained below)
•    Catch Play/Flatgrounds
•    Recovery
•    Strength and Conditioning
•    Pitch Sequencing/Pitch Design
•    Mental Game

Rapsodo Instructional Option ($30)
For an additional $30 participants will get Rapsodo data on spin rate, axis, etc. for instruction on what it tells us. This will be emailed to each participant after camp and will include an instructional action plan from Coach Childs on how to use the information moving forward.

  • Rapsodo Analysis: Coach Childs will assess all Rapsodo data and provide a summary of how this information can help develop arsenal of pitches. Rapsodo provides information about our pitches that we simply cannot see with the naked eye. UNC Baseball uses this information to assess our pitching arsenal, how to best use each pitch in competition, and how to develop to maximize our capabilities as a pitching staff.

Catching Section:
Catching is a crucial position for the betterment of any winning team. All aspects are incredibly important and will be stressed at camp. Catchers will run through catching specific drills and skills (blocking, receiving, throwing) led by UNC Catching Instructor/Head Coach, Carl Iwasaki and Assistant Coach Pat Jolley. Catchers will also receive instruction while receiving bullpen sessions. Catching stations will include:
•    Receiving
•    Blocking
•    Throwing
•    Mental Game
