Event Description
2019 Engineering For Kids
Engineering For Kids brings science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), to kids ages 4 to 14 in a fun and challenging way through classes, camps, clubs, and parties. We are proud to inspire children to build on their natural curiosity by teaching engineering concepts through hands-on learning and development of their problem solving skills. Engineering is, after all, one of the fastest growing industries in the world!
All of our classes align with the following National Standards for STEM education: Common Core Math, Next Generation Science, ITEEA(International Technology and Engineering Educators Association), STL(Standards of Technological Literacy), NSES(National Science Education Standards), and NCTM(National Council for Teachers of Mathematics).
Did You Know?
- Eighth graders with and interest in STEM education are 3x more likely to pursue degrees in those careers.
- STEM related jobs are expected to grow by 17% from 2008-2018, while non-stem jobs are only expected to grow by 9.8%.
- Engineering ranks 11th out of 19 in a list of careers teen students are familiar with.
- By simply exposing children to engineering at a younger age they are 2x as likely to be interested in engineering as a career.
Intro To Coding: Grades 1st-4th
Using the Ozobot Bit, your engineers will be introduced to the world of coding. The Bit allows for hands on unplugged coding by using an optical sensor to detect color changes in the Bit’s path! With these tiny robots your engineers will learn the basics of how coding works and explore a new side of robotics!
