Digital Literacy Camp

Ever wonder how algorithms decide what you see? Why some platforms feel so addictive? This camp goes behind-the-scenes on digital media. Through hands-on activities, collaborative challenges, and self-reflection, we will examine how technology shapes our lives and learn to use digital tools more intentionally and creatively. Come explore our relationship with technology, build critical digital literacy skills, and learn to rebuild your relationship with your devices. Walk away with skills to be a smarter consumer and creator in the digital world.

Learning Objectives:
By the end of the camp, students will be able to:

• Analyze their personal digital habits and identify patterns in their technology use
• Evaluate online information sources for credibility, bias, and accuracy
• Understand how algorithms, social media platforms, and digital design influence behavior
• Apply strategies for managing digital wellbeing and maintaining healthy tech boundaries
• Recognize ethical considerations in digital spaces, including privacy, data security, and digital citizenship

Technology Requirements:
Participants are required to bring a laptop, Chromebook, or tablet capable of accessing web-based applications and social media platforms. Smartphones alone may be used but will limit functionality for some activities. Please remember your charger, and free Wi-Fi is available on campus.
