All Skills Camp


AUGUST 7TH

WHO: Rising 5th - 8th Graders
CHECK IN: 8:00 AM - 8:15 AM
WARM UP: 8:15 AM - 9:00 AM
CAMP TIME: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
QA SESSION: 12:00 PM - 12:30 PM
COST: $90 per Camper

 
The Softball Project All Skills Camp; Powered by Diamond Direction is designed to teach fundamental softball skills that will include hitting, pitching, catching, throwing, infield and outfield play. We will be allowing a maximum of 50 participants to attend this camp and it will be geared towards all skill levels and positions for rising 5th-8th graders. The players will rotate between pitching/catching, hitting and defensive groups throughout the camp ending with a question/answer session for the parents and players.
 
We are extremely pleased to be partnered with The Softball Project. This partnership brings 2 highly decorated softball athletes in Kelsey Bruder and Lauren Haegar. Both were All Americans, SEC Players of the Year and played at the Professional level. They along with the rest of our Coaching staff will bring years of experience to young athletes.
 
COACHING STAFF
Katelyn Shifflett: Director of Operations at North Carolina
Following a successful career at North Carolina, Katelyn Shifflett was hired as the Director of Softball Operations after graduating in 2018. Shifflett was a four-year letterwinner for the Tar Heels from 2015-18 and team captain in 2018. Throughout her career, Shifflett played in 150 games with 95 starts in the middle infield. The Huntersville, North Carolina native recorded 63 hits, 17 doubles and 11 home runs in Carolina Blue. The team's community outreach representative and member of the Baddour Carolina Leadership Academy, Shifflett earned her bachelor's degree in exercise and sport science on the sport administration track.

Kevin Hinde: Head Varsity Coach at Charlotte Christian School
 
Coach Kevin is in the middle of his fourth year (8th season) as Head Coach of Team North Carolina (Hinde). He is also the Head Coach for the Charlotte Christian Varsity Softball Team. He has been a part of youth athletics for more than 15 years, starting with baseball (youth and Junior Legion), middle school football, and eventually finding his love for the game of softball. He has coached softball at all levels from recreational softball teams, all-star teams, challenge teams, travel teams to high school varsity. He has coached and instructed at multiple camps including Faster2First Camps and Diamond Direction Camps. Coach Kevin is an ACE Level 2 certified coach with USA Softball, as well as a Safesport trained certified coach with USA Softball. His Team North Carolina (Hinde) coaching staff was 1 of only 7 on the 2018 NFCA's South Region Coaching Staff of the Year Ballot.
 
Josh Bahnick: Assistant Softball Coach at Charlotte Christian School
 
Coach Josh is entering his fourth season as a softball coach, but has coached youth sports for over 6 years. In addition to joining the Team North Carolina (Hinde) coaching staff in the summer of 2017, he also serves as an Assistant Coach for the Charlotte Christian Varsity Softball Team. He coached 2 years with Zone Select in Worcester, MA as the head coach of both a 13U and a 10U baseball team. He also coached 11U baseball with Showcase Baseball Academy (SBA) in Matthews, NC. Coach Josh studied Exercise Science at Lasell College where he also played baseball. He was awarded Rookie of the Year honors for his conference during his Freshman season. Josh was part of the Team North Carolina (Hinde) coaching staff that was 1 of only 7 on the 2018 NFCA's South Region Coaching Staff of the Year Ballot.

LOCATION | Charlotte Christian School – 7301 Sardis Road Charlotte, NC 28270 (Entrance D and parking is on the right)
 
WHAT TO BRING | Each player must bring her own softball equipment. Players should bring a glove, bat, helmet, cleats and any other equipment they feel necessary to participate. Please bring tennis shoes for the covered, turf facility.
 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION | This Camp is limited by grade only

CANCELLATION POLICY In order to be compliant with NCAA rules, please understand that any payment you make towards camp is non-refundable. If for some reason a camper cannot attend, please inform Diamond Direction at diamonddirectionevents@gmail.com  two weeks prior to the camp or clinic date and we will gladly forward your camp balance to be used towards for a different Diamond Direction Camp. . Please note that this does not reserve or hold your spot, you must still meet registration deadlines. If the camp director is not notified two weeks prior to the camp or clinic date, no forward will occur. If an individual cannot attend due to a medical reason, please provide a doctor’s note to diamonddirectionevents@gmail.com  and the balance will be forwarded, if the cancellation is made prior to camp. Finally, no refunds or balance forwards will be issued upon expulsion or voluntary withdrawal from camp.

All Diamond Direction Softball Camps or clinics are open to any and all entrants, limited only by number, age, grade level and/or gender.
