Summer Lifting & Conditioning Will Make a Difference

The Shanley Strength and Conditioning Camp begins Monday, June 3rd.  The camp will be designed to improve strength, power, speed and cardiovascular fitness over a seven week period.  Most athletes work the hardest during the school year, only to give up training and have all their gains diminish during the summer months.  The fact is, the summer months are the most important times of the year.  For most athletes, once the summer begins, little to no attention is paid to the qualities they’ve worked so hard to improve upon.  The strength and conditioning camp will better prepare athletes to enter the season stronger and in better condition than ever before.

Camp attendees will use a program designed by NSCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Coach, Anthony Carlquist.  The program will consist of a dynamic warm-up, plyometrics, cardiovascular conditioning and weight training.  Safety and Technique will be emphasized throughout the summer.

Notes: There is no camp during the week of July 1st to the 6th. Training will begin again on Monday, July 8th. Training days are Monday through Thursday with revisions in the schedule announced in advance.

Athletes need to have consistent attendance. The summer program is a physically and mentally intense program. It will progress from short, low intensity workouts to longer and higher intensity workouts over the summer. Athletes that skip workouts will find that over time they will begin to struggle with the training.

Note: Family vacations and sports camps are exceptions.

What to Bring: Athletes should bring a water bottle, cleats for outdoor use, running shoes for inside use, t-shirt, and shorts. Please come prepared! The weight room and gym are hot during the summer and conditioning is outside.
