Session 1: Pitching and Catching

In this session, pitchers will continue to develop proper fundamentals to be successful pitchers with Head Coach, Britt Stewart and the current Gustavus pitching staff. We will work on powerline fundamentals as we warm up in our pitching routine. Pitchers will learn new leg drills to help increase power. We will also continue to provide helpful drills and strategies to improve accuracy. Pitchers will have the opportunity to work on different pitches with Gustie pitchers that specialize in certain pitches. We will also discuss the tryout process for many top club teams and what to focus on as you get ready for tryout dates.

The catching portion of the camp will be run by assistant coach, Kirsten Prunty and current Gustie catchers. Catchers will continue developing their blocking, framing, receiving and transferring skills, as well as throw downs, and positioning. They will also

work on leadership behind the plate and the mentality to work with your pitchers. Catchers will also learn new drills to help them improve their fundamentals and have fun while doing so! The second half of this session, catchers will catch live and get to work on skills that they have learned with positive feedback.

Session 2: Offense and Defense

Session two will consist of both offense and defensive work. We will help athletes develop proper hitting fundamentals and implement a hitting approach. Campers will work with current Gusties on different hitting drills to help specific components of the swing through station work and feedback throughout the afternoon.

In addition to getting to improve their offensive skills, campers will also have an opportunity to expand their defensive knowledge. We will touch on the fundamentals and work through drills to help each athlete improve their throwing and fielding mechanics both in the outfield and infield. We will also use this time to work on agility and communication on the field. Our hope is that all athletes learn one new thing in this afternoon filled with softball.

Note: Please bring your own lunch prior to our campus tour, or plan on purchasing lunch at the Gustie Caf
